On Friday, Justice Navin Chawla issued an order prohibiting the misuse of Amitabh Bachchan's name, picture, voice, or any other feature without his permission.
Amitabh Bachchan has petitioned the Honourable High Court for a restraining order against the use of his name, image, and voices.
This is in focus particularly by mobile application developers, people conducting lottery by unlawfully partnering with KBC, book publishers and various other businesses.
Renowned advocate Harish Salve with Ameet Naik and Pravin Anand represented Mr. Amitabh Bachchan in the Delhi High Court.
Infringers have illegally registered Mr Amitabh Bachchan's name as web-domain names like www.amitabhbachchan.com and www.amitabhbachchan.in, which was also brought to the Delhi High Court's attention.
The High Court has issued a thorough injunction prohibiting the defendants and the general public from violating Amitabh Bachchan's personality rights and characteristics, including his name, "Amitabh Bachchan" or "Big-B," voice, and image.
The decision also lays the path for the country's evolving personality rights law, which safeguards a person's right to publicity, privacy, common law and copyright rights.
Lastly, the court has ordered telecom companies to restrict access to all phone numbers used by the defendants to disseminate illegal material.
