Mayur Vihar is situated across the Yamuna River and homes one of the best residential colonies of Delhi. Many people are seen buying property here due to its ease of access to various places in the city including the NCR area of Delhi like Noida. The Delhi Development Authority or ‘DDA’ took the charge to develop Mayur Vihar as one of the best residential areas in the City. They divided the area into three parts or phases and had Flats constructed under the supervision of the Group Housing Societies or ‘GHS’. These Residential Flats are further segregated into Lower Income Group or ‘LIG Flats’, Middle Income Group or ‘MIG Flats’ and Higher Income Group or ‘HIG Flats’.

Mayur Vihar Phase – 1 is situated between Chilla Village, Chilla DDA Janta Flats, Old Patparganj, Trilokpuri, Pandav Nagar, Yamuna River and Noida while Mayur Vihar Phase – II is situated adjacent to Kalyan Vas Janta Flats, Sanjay Jheel Park and Vinod Nagar. It was established 1984 and has one unique feature wherein all the Flats constructed in this area faces a green park and hence lends a green environ. Mayur Vihar Phase – III is situated very close to the border of Noida on one side and the borders of Kondli and Kalyanpuri on the other side. All the ‘LIG Flats’ in this Phase are segregated into Three Pockets named ‘A -1’, ‘A- 2’ and ‘A- 3’ while the ‘HIG Flats’ also named as ’SFS Flats’ have been divided into Pockets named ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’. This Phase also homes the ‘Janta Housing’ Complexes that are situated near the Main Bus Stand and are numbered from B1 to B8, C1 – C8 and so forth.

Currently, ‘Sanjay Jheel Park’ forms a famous picnic spot for the residents. It also homes numerous Senior Secondary Schools, Banks, ATMs, shopping complexes and two shopping malls and Restaurants.
