DEER PARK

Deer Park is situated amidst one of the posh colonies of South Delhi near Green Park and adjacent to the Courts of the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association. It lies very close to Safdarjung Enclave, Chanakya Puri, R. K. Puram and Hauz Khas and hence can be accessible from any corner of the city via local transport.

Deer Park as the name suggests, is also known as one of the ‘Green Lungs of Delhi’ and encloses a massive area of a hundreds of acres of vast expanse covered with tall, green trees and landscaped lawns of green grass adjoining the Hauz Khas Complex water tank with an entry point where you will spot numerous varieties of Birds.

Deer Park was established with the main purpose to preserve the declining population of the Deer habitat and a few smaller species of animals and birds. It aimed at providing a green space and breather from the ever increasing population and pollution of the city. Covered with utter greenery, shady trees and a water pool, this park definitely makes a mark when it comes to enjoying your nature walk to the fullest amidst an environment filled with peace, tranquillity and solitude with no need to travel to far off sanctuaries to experience the ambience of wildlife.

Deer Park also forms a hub for picnic lovers where families and friends enjoy a fun weekend with each other. Many indulge in sports activities like a game of Volleyball or badminton while a few just love taking a stroll through the vast expanse in order to spot an innocent looking Deer, Peacocks with their vibrant feathers, Rabbits and Guinea Pigs. Beside the water pool, you will notice a massive variety of different species of birds that breed and feed near the Lake water especially a few who migrate from higher grounds to the plains during harsh winter seasons. This area is ideal and apt for nature lovers and birdwatchers where one can explore the wealth of birdlife through their binoculars and fulfil their hobby by capturing the beautiful sights of nature in abundance within their cameras and videos.

Deer Park with another entry point from Green Park extension area is also a hub for morning walkers, Joggers, Yoga and sports enthusiast who enjoy their pleasant time exercising and relaxing amidst the green expanse of the park. It also has an area converted into a play ground made especially for Children which remains packed on weekends and evenings.

Deer Park also has small huts made within its premises where people can stay and a restaurant which provides snacks and lunch. Visitors are seen crowding this Park throughout the year due to its harmless wildlife habitat opposed to other sanctuaries which are made to accommodate the true factors of nature in order to preserve and conserve wildlife in their natural form and habitation.

Deer Park is opened to all on all days with no entry fee from early morning up till sunset; however, it is advisable not to stay longer after the late evenings and after darkness sets in. A visit to this park is a must for all tourists who will definitely find the place intriguing and pleasant in all aspects and promises to leave them with a memorable experience.
